Boil water
Boil water in a pot big enough to fit all the pasta. Add the pasta (carefully), cook using the package instructions. When the pasta is done, keep 1/4 cup of pasta water. Drain the rest of the water and set the pasta aside.

Prep for sauce
In a large saucepan or skillet (Make sure the saucepan or skillet have enough space for all the pasta and sauce. The pasta will be tossed into the sauce at the end) melt butter on medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds (do not brown the garlic) then add the heavy cream.
Bring the heavy cream to a boil and add the lemon juice and the pasta water that you kept from boiling the pasta.
Bring to boil again, at this point the sauce should be slightly thickened. Add salt, turn of the heat and stir.

Add the pasta to the cream sauce and toss it in the sauce.

Break the smoked salmon into small pieces using a fork and then add it together with the capers to the pasta. Toss to combine.
